MIST SERIES are abstract paintings that reflect an
awareness of nature. "The sense of mysterious femininity
pervades these abstractions," writes art historian Donald
Kuspit in the exhibition catalog. Lerner's abstract paintings
are "self reflections and by extension reflections of
the female self. More particularly, they remind us that femininity
continues to have archaic meaning, despite our scientific
enlightenment about it. That is why it is still moving."
